Research Thesis
Ideal urban heat island simulation by urban location and distribution changes
Research Goal
Our goal is to find the ideal city design that can minimize the Urban Heat Island effect.
We want to see how the urban heat island phenomenon changes depending on the combination of land use and its size. To achieve our research goal, we investigate which case of the research mitigates the urban heat island phenomenon the most.
To be specific, forest and water bodies are considered, which have been mentioned in various preceding research as the methods of mitigating urban heat island phenomenon. In addition, we look into how the size and location of urban areas in the city affect the heat island effect. Lastly, we figure out which type of forest is the best to alleviate the urban heat island phenomenon when the urban area is in the middle.
